Year 4 students Club Kidpreneur MarketThursday May 25th, 2017
The School’s Enterprise Academy was awash with activity on Tuesday 23 May when our Year 4 budding entrepreneurs showcased their latest business ventures at a Club Kidpreneur Market run through the Academy. There were some incredible products on display – all skilfully designed, constructed and promoted by the Junior Enterprise teams.
As a School dedicated to future-focussed education and interactive, experiential learning through the Enterprise Academy, students are encouraged to enhance their learning through a variety of activities within and outside traditional curriculum time.
Prior to market day, the girls created a buzz around the Junior School via class announcements, posters and video ads. Shoppers could choose from a wide-range of goodies, including handmade bead necklaces, stress balls, pencil toppers, glitter jars, page savers, tea-light candles, key rings, food labels, bunting signs, bows and decorative pegs.
Head of Junior School, Mrs Ann Mathers, said: “In a world where careers of the future are rapidly changing – the need for fostering skills in enterprise has never been greater. Our Enterprise Academy partnership with Club Kidpreneur enables us to further stretch our student’s creativity, develop productive ideas and use initiative, innovation and industry to create something of value that requires boldness and energy.
“For their first major Club Kidpreneur project of 2017, our Year 4s have demonstrated excellent entrepreneurial skills and successfully applied creativity, commercial acumen and boundless energy to promote their businesses. We are excited to see what their creative minds will conjure up for the next project as they continue to follow their passions and put valuable ideas into action.”
Mentone Girls’ Grammar is the only all-girls school in Victoria to be identified as a Club Kidpreneur Hero School thanks to the extensive enterprise culture at the School through the Enterprise Academy. Club Kidpreneur is a not-for-profit social enterprise igniting the entrepreneurial spirit of Australian primary school students to equip them with innovation and knowledge capacity for the jobs of the future.
